At Barcelona's Sagrada Familia, exterior sculptures tell the story of Jesus (top left).
The Passion Façade (pictured right) is austere, plain and simple, with ample bare stone, and is carved with harsh straight lines to resemble the bones of a skeleton. Dedicated to the Passion of Christ, the suffering of Jesus during his crucifixion, the façade was intended to portray the sins of man.
The windows (pictured bottom left) are designed to draw the eye upwards and inspire meditation on the divine. The heart-stoppingly beautiful attention to detail and the sheer magnitude of the windows naturally accomplish this. The stained glass designs also capture and filter colored light that not only illuminates but also adorns the striking architectural details.
