Description
Málaga is one of the oldest cities in the world. It was founded by the Phoenicians as Malaka about 770 BC. The archaeological remains and monuments from the Phoenician, Roman, Arabic and Christian eras make the historic center of the city an "open museum", displaying its history of nearly 3,000 years.
The Cathedral of Málaga is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Málaga. It is in the Renaissance architectural tradition. The façade, unlike the rest of the building, is in Baroque style.
The cathedral is located within the limits defined by a now missing portion of the medieval Moorish walls, the remains of which surround the nearby Alcazaba and the Castle of Gibralfaro.
